Aw! Rihanna's little brother Rajad was right by his sister's side. It must be nice for your own country to dedicate a day to you. Rihanna fever sure did take over. More after the cut!
A contagious fever has been infecting Barbadians for close to a week now, and it reached epidemic proportions yesterday. People of all ages and walks of life, who have contracted the Rihanna fever, turned up at Grantley Adams International Airport from early in the day to get a glimpse, and even a touch of the island's first female Grammy Award winner. Symptoms brought on by the fever included screaming, rapid breathing, cold sweats and tears. There were hundreds with one or more of those complaints at the airport yesterday. The singing sensation alighted from a British Airways Aircraft around 3:50 p.m. and was met by an entourage of officials, which included Prime Minister David Thompson, his wife Mara, Minister of Youth Affairs Esther Byer-Suckoo, Minister of Tourism Richard Sealy, Minister of Foreign Affairs Chris Sinckler and Minister of Culture Steve Blackett. After exchanging greetings, Rihanna and her party were escorted to an area close to the departure lounge for a cultural presentation. Loud applause and cheers erupted from airport employees and well-wishers when the 20-year-old singer came out of the VIP lounge. Most of them struggled in the crunch for a keepsake photograph on their cellphones. The short cultural presentation saw performances from Dancin' Africa, Charles F. Broome Memorial and Combermere, both of which Rihanna attended. After the presentation Blackett congratulated Rihanna on her success. "We're specially proud of you as an entertainer and your win of your Grammy award and we celebrate with you. I'm especially pleased that you're mindful of your roots as a Barbadian and you identify with Barbados. I'm especially pleased that you have retained your wonderful Bajan accent," Blackett stated. Rihanna, who was the one being entertained for a change, said a few words before heading off to prepare for the Believe Concert, which was organised in her honour. "I just wanna say that I'm really, really excited to be here, to be at home. There is no place like home, there will never be another Barbados. "I greatly appreciate all that you guys are doing, all of your support and the way that you are showing your appreciation," an overwhelmed Rihanna said.Cracking stuff.

On Feb 20th, Beyonce was spotted leaving Da Silvano restaurant in Manhattan, New York:
I love it when Beyonce leaves her house au natural without the heavy weave or tacky lace front wig. She looked cute. As I previously reported in the infamous blog entry she will play Etta James and she is also executive producing the movie. Well, Etta has finally spoken out about Beyonce playing her character. She says of Beyonce: "It's a privilege and an honor to have somebody like that girl. I don't think she looks like me, but that's all right. They can fix that up". READ THE WHOLE ARTICLE.

.... And, she was also spotted at Versace Fashion Show, Milan Fashion Week Autumn/Winter 2008.
Mary J Blige and hubby Kendu attended the Saks Fifth Avenue's "Unforgettable Evening" Benefit:
Mary looked awful. Looking at her face is like looking at tough brown bread layered with too much chocolate spread. Talk about going all heavy handed with the bronzer. Mary will also join Elton John on stage for a duet at his AIDS Foundation Academy Awards viewing party this coming Sunday. Elton John's annual Oscar party has raised more than $15 million over the past 15 years. Mary's AIDS-awareness efforts date back to 2000, when she worked with MAC Cosmetics on its Viva Glam fundraising campaign. The Queen of Hip-Hop Soul has also worked with John before. He played piano on her single "Deep Inside." There's no word yet on what song the two will perform at the Oscar party.
