BEYONCE & FANTASIA GET NEW MOVIE ROLES....

Beyonce is going to star in a new movie called Obsessed which is a Screen Gems thriller that will go into production this summer. Beyonce will be the exec producer along with her father, Matthew Knowles [SOURCE].

The singer is also producing and co-starring as Etta James in upcoming movie Cadillac Records for Sony BMG. In the movie Obsessed, Beyonce will play the knockout wife of an asset manager (Idris Elba) who has a thriving career until a temp office worker (Heroes actress Ali Larter) begins stalking him. Well, what can I say. Beyonce has FINALLY accomplished something we thought was not possible - she is going to star in a NON-SINGING ROLE!!! This should be really interesting, but I get the feeling that before 2008 comes to an end, we're going to end up hating Beyonce as she'll be dropping her third solo album later this year as well.

Another R&B singer who is making her mark in the movie sector is American Idol winner Fantasia Barrino. Oprah Winfrey wants her to star in the second movie adaptation of 'The Color Purple' in light of her role playing Celie in the Broadway version last year [SOURCE].

The singer is currently working on her third studio album and is putting her music career AHEAD of everything else but Oprah is prepared to wait until Fantasia is ready to commit fully to the project before production goes into practice. I can't wait. I am a huuuge fan of the original movie. Fantasia recieved critically-acclaimed reviews for her Broadway stint and there's no excuses as to why she can't pull this one off.
