JANET JACKSON'S RELATIONSHIP WITH DEF JAM IS IN JEOPARDY....

Janet Jackson has raised suspicion that she may never record another album with Def Jam, after it was previously reported that she was at war with them over the choice of singles from her poorly-performed album 'Discipline'. Janet has further put out fresh speculation that all is STILL not well at Def Jam which could see her backing away from the label for good....

Check out her response below as she explains how her future with the record label is now in doubt:
"I can't say if we'll be working with them in the future," Jackson said today (Sept. 4) during a conference call with reporters to promote her upcoming Rock Witchu Tour. "I don't know what the future holds between the two of us." READ MORE
It's a lowdown dirty shame that 'Discipline' has met its untimely end, because the single-worthy songs on that album were practically screaming out to be released. Tracks like '2Nite' and 'Rollercoaster' simply went to waste and could have extended the album from the 413,000 copies that have sold in the United States to date. It's bad enough that your a certified legend and yet your album can't even go Gold after six months. She never had to settle for triple sewage water in the sales department. Whilst Discipline wasn't a groundbreaking album, it certainly wasn't a horrible one either. Even now, the whole album has yet to be deleted from my Zen player because for me, it showcases different moods which is why I liked it.

As for Discipline, the label did a screw-up job. Not just with the singles but with the promo. I keep saying it was in poor duty that promo for the album didn't kick off until a week before the album was set to drop. It seems Def Jam are doing a muck-up job of Mariah Carey's latest album as well. And again, it's all down to poor single choices. Apparently, they've chosen 'That Chick' to be the next single from 'E=MC²'. I'm sure many of her lambs would have loved to have chucked hot water over the shiny bald head of LA Reid once hearing this news especially since more single-worthier songs such as 'Migrate', 'For The Record' and 'I Stay In Love' are for the taking. As a matter of fact, 'Touch My Body' was such a rubbish song for a lead single and the only reason why it did well was because of the hype surrounding it. They had the opportunity to redeem themselves by releasing 'Migrate' straight after but decided to release the slushy 'Love Story' in a bid to try and profit from Mariah's gimmick wedding to cornball Nick Cannon. I can't see E=MC² going double platinum any time soon.

So having said all this, Def Jam halted Janet's promotion all because she rightly stood up to them over misguided single choices but if Mariah is going along with whatever Def Jam proposes (hence the funds for extra video's) then to be quite frank, Janet really IS better off without Def Jam.
