R&B ROUND-UP: MARIAH DENIES ATTACKING J.LO, RAY-J'S NEW ALBUM TO DROP THIS SPRING & BRYAN MICHAEL-COX MAY HOLD REIGN OVER NEW BRANDY ALBUM....

This week, reports had Mariah Carey down as attacking her arch rival Jennifer Lopez. When she was allegedly asked about a future collaboration with the Latina singer, she was quoted as saying the following to Inside Hollywood: "I'd rather be on stage with a pig! A duet with Jennifer Lopez and me just ain't going to happen". Mariah now says the quote is a lie and that it didn't come from her. She voiced her denial to PEOPLE: "This is just some Internet gossip and it's pathetic that people actually entertain the thought that this could be real," adds the 'We Belong Together' singer. "This is another sad example of two strong women being pit against each other." Mariah's new album is due out in the spring, shortly after J.Lo is due to give birth. In the past, Mariah has failed to hide her outrage ever since Jennifer used a beat for 'I'm Real' remix which was intended for Mariah's 'Glitter' album. I am glad she denies this. It borders on childish that Mariah would still be stuck on something that occurred 6 years ago. Even so, the idea that she could make a comment like this isn't so farfetched especially when you look at this. Mariah can get into her bitch-snapping inner-diva when she's all good and ready. Look how she shut down Diddy. You gotta love Mariah.

Ray-J and his self-promotion for being the latest stud in porn (yeah right) is coming out with a new album in April 2008. For anyone who cares, the album is tentatively titled "All I Feel" which will be preceded by the album's first single "Sexy Can I" (I see even in his music, Ray-J is still trying to play it down). The track features Yung Berg. The video was shot in December and is directed by R. Malcolm Jones and the song is expected to go for National adds in mid-January. It will entail production from Rodney Jerkins/Darkchild and guest spots from Snoop Dogg, The Game, Lil Wayne and many more. The project operated under Ray J's Knockout Entertainment sees it being marketed and distributed by KOCH Records in a brand new multi-million dollar deal with Universal. Ray J says of the new partnership, "I feel great about bringing Knockout Entertainment to KOCH. I enjoy making great music and I believe in working very hard. I'm excited to be with a team who believes in me and my ideas". Who is he kidding EH? Nobody wants to listen to you Ray-J! Go back to promoting condoms or sticking your wiener into some raw meat.

But one artist, we DO want to hear from is his sister Brandy. It still sucks that we have no tentative release date or news of a possible lead single. We may not even be getting wind of this new Brandy project until the last quarter. Not that I'm complaining of course. I'm all for taking your time so that the quality of the music is on par. She hasn't released any new music in four years and the anticipation is straight overkill. However, according to SOHH, Bryan Michael-Cox is executive producing the new Brandy joint. This is just a rumour of course. Nothing set in stone. Not sure if this is a good idea if Brandy aims to set herself apart. I can't wait to hear some of the new stuff she did with Darkchild, but I'll be happy to get some new music all the same.
