MICHELLE WILLIAMS: UNEXPECTED & BREAK THE DAWN [LISTEN TO TWO BRAND NEW SNIPPETS]....

Michelle Williams is preparing to release her first R&B album this spring or at least an album I thought would be R&B-generated. It seems Michelle is experimenting with her sound and moving into the boundaries of adult pop-territory. So far, we have heard a snippet of Stop This Car, and today Michelle has unleashed two more snippets which you can now listen to:

MICHELLE WILLIAMS: UNEXPECTED

Unexpected indeed. With the euro-pop sound I am not sure if it works well with her voice. It sounds okay, but I'm not too crazy about it. Michelle never really had a voice for contemporary sounding pop and R&B tunes which is why she always sounded out of joint when she was with Destiny's Child. This song however could stand to grow on me.

MICHELLE WILLIAMS: BREAK THE DAWN

I actually prefer this joint to Unexpected. Pretty distinguishable because although I hear songs like this all the time on mainstream radio, vocally, you can put a face to the music. Michelle's progression into more 'mainstream' music is an interesting move and it'll be fascinating to see how her music is perceived in the coming months.
