The performances were hot, and Ashanti looked stunning. She did a good job singing You're Gonna Miss live, but when it came to her performance of In These Streets, I noticed she played it safe by sticking with the backing track. I liked her performance of The Way That I Love You but the dancers were not needed. They were just corny. Their choreography sucked and wasn't executed very well. I think Ashanti could have carried the performances on her own. She totally surprised me with Girlfriend. She did the damn thing. If anything, that was my favourite performance from the whole entire thing. That performance just made the song even hotter. I would love to have seen her perform Struggle though. That's my song. I love that track. She could have done WITHOUT the video choreography for Only U. Other than that, those were some pretty solid performances.
Over the weekend, Ashanti attended the Hearst Magazines and Universal Motown "Ultimate Prom" at the Grand Hyatt in New York City. At the event, she briefly performed an acapella version of her latest single 'The Way That I Love You':
Does the acapella make you love or hate the song even more?
