Reportedly, Karina rejected a deal with the Bad Boy label (wise decision) after a high-stakes bidding war. However, she has no problem with Cassie recording the song. She says: "I recorded it last year and we didn't really feel like it fit the album, so I guess they just had it there and she probably heard it and wanted to record it. I don't know exactly how she got it but I know it wasn't going to make my album" [SOURCE].
