R&B SINGERS OUT & ABOUT // VIBE RESPONDS TO ROBIN THICKE'S "RACIST" CLAIMS.....

Robin Thicke and Monica both attended and performed at the V103 Soul Session in Atlanta last night. Despite reportedly being ill, Robin still managed to put on a great show:

Recently, Robin claimed to Billboard that he was told by VIBE that the reason why he's never had their front cover was because he was white, but Vibe felt that damage control needed to be done and issued an official statement:
"We have a great deal of respect for Robin Thicke and his music, and we remain flattered by his desire to be on a VIBE cover. A VIBE cover is a huge milestone in any artist’s career—recent cover stars include Young Jeezy, Mariah Carey, 50 Cent, Usher, Senator Barack Obama, Eminem, Lil Wayne, and Robert De Niro, to say nothing of our 15-year history. We wish Thicke the best, and we’re glad he discusses his thoughts on race and R&B in the new October 2008 issue of VIBE."
WOW, what a piece of shit statement. They're trying to say he aint accomplished shit and doesn't have enough status to grace their cover. They would not have felt the need to save face if they'd told him that from the beginning - that he wasn't popular enough to sell their mag rather than to tell him it was the colour of his skin that prevented them from putting him on their front cover. We know it was a flunk considering that they've had white artists previously grace their covers such as Justin Timberlake, Gwen Stefani and Eminem.

It wasn't much of a star-studded event but Monica's boyfriend and brother were there for support as well as fellow R&B singer Keri Hilson and rapper Ludacris:

Monica's brother looks weird to me.

Leona Lewis was seen signing autogrphs outside of the ABC studio after appearing at Good Morning America in Times Square yesterday:

She is reportedly furious that her pre-famous album 'Best Kept Secret' will compete against her pre-packaged debut album 'Spirit' this Christmas. The unofficial CD contains songs that she recorded before the X-Factor and will be released by her old record company few weeks prior. Among the tracks listed on 'Best Kept Secret' are two singles that she released in 2005, 'Dip Down' and 'Private Party'. As for the re-release of 'Spirit', it will be packaged with a few extra songs and videos.

Ne-yo had an album release party in Philly last night for new album 'Year of The Gentleman' (out Sept 16th):

And since he's $700,320 richer, that's not the only thing he was celebrating either.
